Water First

This year, all proceeds generated from the event will benefit Water First. Water First was founded in 2009 to bring drinking water resources to rural schools in Uganda. In 2012 they shifted their company to work with Indigenous communities experiencing water challenges, and since 2016 has been dedicated to exclusively working with Indigenous communities. To date, Water First has worked with over 55 communities in Ontario, Quebec, Manitoba, and Labrador (currently, 35% of First Nations communities in Ontario are under a boil water advisory). Water First is guided by Indigenous people across Turtle Island: through those that participate in their programs, the communities they work with, and the Indigenous Advisory Council. Water First works to address the complex challenges that Indigenous communities face.
